Electronic Health Records Specialists (EHRS) course focuses on the policies and strategies to be considered as part of the transformation from paper-based health records to electronic health records.
This course guides the student through the development of a practice strategy for the EHR based on a review of critical policy considerations and decisions. The implementation of the EHR affects all stakeholders of the medical practice: physicians, care providers, administrative staff, patients, and others.
The course describes the EHR selection and acquisition process. In due course, medical practices will be required to adopt EHRs to increase the efficiency of their practice and to achieve a higher, more sustainable level of timely, complete, and accurate documentation of health records in electronic format.
In addition, this course covers many aspects of new compliance and regulations within the healthcare industry including: HIPAA, HIPAA II, ARRA, Meaningful Use.
One of the key components of this course is the hands-on labs, which utilizes certified live EHR software. Participants work through business, administrative and clinical cases learning all aspects of EHR, from software systems to usability and set-up.
